According to the Prosecutor"s Office, they have detained the former Director of Rustavi Penitentiary Establishment No. 6, Former Deputy Director and Former Head of Legal Regime Division due to offensive and inhuman treatment of prisoners during 2012.

"The European Court of Human Rights determined a violation of the procedural part of Article 3 of the European Convention (prohibition of torture) on October 30. 2015 in regard to the case " Gegenava and others against Georgia " on ill-treatment of prisoners on the basis of which the State took the responsibility to conduct an effective investigation. The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe was overseeing the execution of the specified decisions and the conduct of the investigation,” - reads the statement of the Prosecutor"s Office.

The detainees have already been charged and the Investigative Office has appealed to the Court for the use of detention as a preventive measure.
