"In general I would like to say, that the policy that has been defined against Russia, the policy of strategic patience is correct and adequate," the President said in a statement on the strategy of relations with Russia.

He said that the main goal of Georgia is to avoid provocation and not to let the Russian state which is in its aggressive phase of development to show his power in relation to our country.

According to the President, this strategic policy is even more relevant while we and the whole world has entered a new phase of relations with Russia.

According to the president, the year 2018 was determined by Russia"s attempt to create an imitation of the Cold War.

Giorgi Margvelashvili stated that it is unclear why the government had decided to cancel the Security Council while having this background.

"The country in this situation with Russia abolishes the highest political body where discussions are on the country"s defence capabilities," said the president.
