Officers of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia have field charges against two heads of one of the companies for fraudulently misappropriating a large amount of state money and three employees of Tbilisi City Hall for the official negligence.

the investigation found that the defendants, under the name of one of the companies, participated in a tender announced by Tbilisi City Hall regarding the purchase of resort service (mountain resort) for children with disabilities in 2017 and won the tender, after which the representatives’ of the company misappropriated GEL 34 775 through falsifying documents, while the employees of Tbilisi City Hall, who should have supervised the provision of the service by the company, did not properly fulfill their duties, as ma result of which, the legal interests of the state were violated.

The defendants face a jail term from 6 to 9 years if convicted.

Today, the issue of appropriation of money allocated for children with disabilities has become the reason for the noisy confrontation in Tbilisi City Council. The opposition is interested in why the head of the social service department of the City Hall, who was previously convicted for corruption deals,was appointed to this position.
