Mikheil Saakashvili, the third president of Georgia was sentenced to 8 years for beating MP Valeri Gelashvili. The judge announced a decision a few minutes ago.

However, considering the amnestied articles, Mikheil Saakashvili was sentenced to 6 years in prison.

The judge ruled out a political background of the sentence.

Mikheil Saakashvili is accused in four cases in Georgia.
