Giorgi Mghebrishvili left his post 7 months after appointment - his position was allegedly sacrificed to corrupt deals

Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the head of the Emergency Situations Service, has resigned 7 months after his appointment. The former minister of internal affairs and the first firefighter according to the "Courier" reported did not resign on his own wiil. The Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze asked him to write a request and resign.

The government administration said that the first firefighter resigned and the Prime Minister satisfied his statement today.

According to the "Courieri", Mgebrishvili was dismissed after the investigation got interested in his activities at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the conducted tenders . It"s about alleged corruption deals.

Will Giorgi Mghebrishvili be the third ex-minister from the Georgian Dream"s team, who will have to come to the Prosecutor"s Office for questioning, is not yet specified in the investigative agency.

The Prosecutor"s Office has officially confirmed that the fact of embezzlement of budgetary funds from the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure is established. In the main investigative agency, the first thing is that the case is investigated on the abuse of power.

The Chief Prosecutor"s Office does not specify the projects on which the investigation has started. However, prosecutors do not rule out criminal prosecution of former ministers Dimitri Kumsishvili and Zurab Alavidze .

According to "Courieri" the case, which is being investigated by the Prosecutor"s Office, deals with a 710 million project.
