Nika Gvaramia responds to the Requirement of the Georgian National Communications Commission

"We will not obey this kind of stupid, illegal, and most importantly, the anti-constitutional explanations that violate all the regulations governing personal information," - Nika Gvaramia, General Director of Rustavi 2, responded to the Communications Regulatory Commission.

Nika Gvaramia evaluates as "Anti-Constitutional" the demand made by the Georgian National Communications Commission for broadcasters to verify the credibility of the public opinion poll conducted by them.

"For a long time we have been fighting the regulatory commission on this issue. In the end, it could not legally justify the demand and could not get the decision in this direction. Therefore, no matter what the regulatory commission will say in this regard, we will protect the law and the Constitution of Georgia and not the self-made stupidity of the corrupt Bekauri. We will protect the law and if we conduct research, this study will be relevant to the law and we will not violate any law, "Gvaramia said.

Nika Gvaramia also notes that all the norm regarding the conduct of the research is in the law and it does not require additional control.

The National Communications Commission (GNCC) addressed the broadcasters and urged them to verify the credibility of their public opinion survey, otherwise they warned media outlets about penalties.

The NGO sector calls the launch of new mechanisms of pressure on independent media by the Communications Regulatory Commission as "a threat to self-censorship."
