The Ministry of Defense and the Minister Levan Izoria are involved in the scandal. Georgian officers have been selling ammunition from one of the most protected bases of the Armed Forces in the black market for one year .
The fact is confirmed and the military police were detained in their homes on August 28. However, the Defense Minister did not react to the fact for one year. The question arises: whether Levan Izoria and other high-ranking officials of the armed forces lobbied the sale of the ammunition in the black market.
The Tbilisi City Court sentenced the detainees to preliminary detention on September 1, although the Ministry of Defense hid and did not voice the fact. According to the reliable source, Levan Izoria gave the order to the employees of the Ministry. After the "Courier" started to investigate the incident, the Ministry of Defense was forced to hold a special briefing and confirm the fact.
According to the case materials, the investigation established that the employee of the Armament and Equipment Maintenance Base of the Logistics Support Command, together with the company commander of Motor Base of the Logistics Support Command and a citizen, were selling the ammunition, which they illegally obtained from the Armament and Equipment Maintenance Base.
The crime is punishable by 9-13 years in prison.
