General Director of "Rustavi 2" paid tribute to the memory of Giorgi Tsertsvadze, hero of the Georgian and Ukrainian wars. Nika Gvaramia attended the funeral of Gia Tsertsvadze and expressed his condolences to the family.

Ar rge decision of Rustavi 2 and its general director Gia Tsertsvadze"s three children will receive a monthly scholarship and according to the decision of the broadcast company, the family will receive an apartment in Gori.

Gia Tsertsvadze was buried at Gori civil cemetery today because the Ministry of Defense refused the family to bury him at the Mukhathgverdi brothers" cemetery.

Tsertsvadze`s funeral was attended by ordinary soldiers and former military servicemen. However, none of the high ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense was present at the funeral.

Gia Tsertsvadze died a few days ago after a serious illness. He was diagnosed with lymphoma. He was unable to undetake a course of treatment in European countries, as he was wanted by the Russian Federation.

Gia Tsertsvadze participated in every struggle after the independence of Georgia. Since 2007 he was deputy head of Special Forces in Shida Kartli. He participated in the August 2008 war, witnessed all the events, so the persecution of Gia Tsertsvadze became Russia"s number one goal.

Vice-colonel Gia Tsertsvadze, the highest qualification military personnel and experienced specialist, was dismissed by Irakli Garibashvili in 2013 and he was not given the reasons for his release. In January 2017, the whole world heard how the Georgian soldier wanted by Russian intelligence was allowed to cross the Georgian border and was not warned that Russia was looking for him.
