20 people have been injured as a result of an explosion in the center of Paris.
The condition of two people is grave. There are three firefighters among the injured.
“The situation is now under control,” Interior Minister Christophe Castaner told reporters on the scene. He said more than 200 firemen were involved in the rescue operation.
A massive explosion was probably caused by a gas leak. A police source said the explosion tore apart a bakery on the rue Trevise in the Grands Boulevards district. The force of the blast shattered nearby storefronts and rocked buildings hundreds of meters away, witnesses said.
