Case of police officers - child begging in the street was physically assaulted by law enforcers

General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is investigating the fact of beating of a minor by Tbilisi Patrol Police officers.
It turns out that several the child was physically assaulted by law enforcement officers when they were performing their duties.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs made a statement about the incident today.The director of the Human Rights Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Londa Toloraia, says that the head of the police unit is dismissed.In addition, besides the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor"s Office is also investigating the case.
"On February 11, 2018, the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs began investigating the possible physical violence against minor living in the street by police officers. In parallel to this, the Ministry of Internal Affairs appealed to the General Prosecutor"s Office of Georgia to initiate investigation and initiate criminal persecution on the possible fact of offense. The Prosecutor General"s Office launched an investigation under Article 333 (b) of para 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies abuse of power . At the same time, the head of the relevant police unit was immediately released from the position, "- Londa Toloraia said.
At this stage the Ministry does not disclose how many law enforcers are being prosecuted and how many children are victims.
