"The president should be enabled to take part in the work of the Security Council" - Gabunia Denies Confrontation between President and Government

The President wants to take part in the work of the Security Council - the consultations started in the Parliament on the issue.

Today the first meeting was held with the parliamentary secretary of the president Dimitri Gabunia and  Irakli Sesiashvili, chairman of the parliamentary committee for defense and security.The president"s administration demands a record in the draft law, according to which the President will be entitled to take part in the work of the Security Council.
Dimitri Gabunia, the parliamentary secretary of the president, made a statement on the meeting and said that he had fixed some positions on the issue. Gabunia states that the president should take part in the work of the Security Council.
""The president should be enabled to take part in the work of the Security Council. This is our unequivocal position. We aim to pursue the Parliament that this is crucial as the President is the Commander in Chief and she/he must be authorized to participate in the meetings of the Council during the martial and state of emergency. We understand that when President participates in the work of the government’s consultative body as its member it might make some awkward situations, but taking the experience of different countries into consideration, the President must be authorized to take part in the work of the Security Council, "Dimitri Gabunia said.
