"We call on Russia to respect the ceasefire agreement" - Macron

 

The meeting of the Georgian and French presidents has ended. The Heads of the two countries answered the questions of media at the joint briefing after the meeting.
Emanuel Macron emphasized cooperation in the field of military and cybersecurity. In addition, the French President noted that the country will work with the Georgian side in order to reduce the flow of emigrants to Europe.

The Presidents emphasized the beginning of "Dimitry Amilakhvari Bilateral Dialogue", which envisages deepening cooperation in different spheres.
Emmanuel Macron condemned the process of borderization and called on Russia to respect the ceasefire agreement.

"Of course we should support the continuation of the dialogue in the Geneva format. France"s position is unequivocal. We always condemn the borderization process that is taking place in Georgia Demarcation line. We will talk about it. Such practice from Russia contradicts all norms of international law and we will not be silent. We will always condemn it. France always reminds Russia to be more constructive and allow the monitors to observe the breakaway regions. We always call on Russia to respect the ceasefire agreement, "- said Emanuel Macron.

The President of Georgia invited the French counterpart to Georgia.
