Rule for selection of judges - Parliament will receive recommendations from the Venice Commission today

The Parliament of Georgia will receive recommendations of the Venice Commission on the selection criteria for judges today. Despite the fact that the parliamentary majority has already discussed the draft law with two hearings, MPs say they will take note of the remarks and reflect them in the project.
The parliamentary majority does not share the criticism of the opposition and the non-governmental sector. The ruling team says that the Venice Commission"s conclusion will be positive about the draft law prepared by the chairperson and another 6 MPs of the ruling party.
According to Mamuka Mdinaradze, the governing team created norms in legal logic when developing the draft law.
"It is unthinkable to have any special criticism from the Venice Commission, so honestly, the norms created by the ruling team are in the frames of the legal logic. The Committee, when discussing concrete articles, does not have serious arguments here and suddenly they switch to the message box that has been created for several months already. Unfortunately, several representatives of the non-governmental sector, our opponents talk using general messaging, reminding about the clan and the society is confused, "Mamuka Mdinaradze said.
