High Council of Justice accuses Venice Commission of unconstitutional recommendations

The High Council of Justice accuses the Venice Commission of elaborating unconstitutional recommendations - the Chairman of Kutaisi Court of Appeals - Dimitri Gvritishvili has released the statement.

" A part of the recommendations outlined in the conclusion contradicts the Constitution of Georgia, so they cannot be reflected in the organic law," writes GriitishviliIn the letter, where he criticizes the Venice Commission.

In the statement is mentioned that the recommendations have a political background.

" The recommendation, which states that the acting parliament should elect only a part of judges, while another part should be elected by the next convocation parliament in 2020-2024. Does not it have a political background? " - writes Gvritishvili.
