Parliament Approves Kobakhidze"s Draft Law on Selecting Judges

87 voted for and 33 against the draft law, prepared by Irakli Kobakhidze on the rule of appointing judges of the Supreme Court.

.The vote was preceded by a noisy discussion. Eka Beselia and Gedevan Popkhadze have confronted the Chairman of the Parliament several times.

The draft law caused acute and noisy controversy at previous hearings as well. The opposition criticized the government and repeatedly blamed of ignoring the recommendations of the Venice Commission.
