Corruption scandal - former and current high-ranking officials detained in Adjara do not plead guilty

Acting and former high-ranking officials detained on a scandal related to corruption do not plead guilty. All seven detainees will be officially charged today.

Investigation charges the former Mayor of Batumi Giorgi Ermakov, Vice Mayor of Batumi, Deputy ministers of Finance and Education and three high ranking officials of the City Hall.

The case concerns the tender, announced in 2015.

According to the investigation, the former and current high-ranking officials arranged a victory of the Azerbaijani company on the bases of false documents and paid them four million.
