Mariam Jashi responds to publication by the High Council of Justice of a 144-man list of judges of the Supreme Court. According to the chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture, the main feature of any candidate will be the public trust.
Mariam Jashi talked about the possible appointment of Shalva Tadumadze as a judge.
"There are a number of people distinguished for professionalism in this list. The public trust will be a very important feature and I am confident that those candidates who will be selected in the Supreme Court will be distinguished both professionally and personally. Any person with the respective qualification, regardless of the position, has the right to participate. We naturally will consider Shalva Tadumadze`s candidacy. The fact that Shalva was elected as the General Prosecutor, already indicates his high qualifications. But naturally, this is still a matter of discussion, "said Mariam Jasma.
The list of applicants for the position of judges of the Supreme Court is known. The list of 144 candidates was named by the High Council of Justice yesterday. Among them are acting and former judges - Tamar Alania, Nana Aptsiauri, Merab Gabinashvili, Shota Getsadze, Maka Gvelesiani, Miranda Eremadze, Acting Prosecutor Shalva Tadumadze, Giorgi Mikautadze, Lali Papiashvili, Chairman of the Constitutional Court Zaza Tavadze.
