Strict warning for the 2020 elections - Opposition assesses Pompeo"s statement

A strict warning to the 2020 elections - the opposition assesses the US Secretary of State"s statements. According to the opponents of the authorities, the statements made by Pompeo indicate that the authorities must change the rule for holding the elections and reject the methods of fraud. According to the opposition, the Georgian authorities should be get rid of the court clan rule.
"The Secretary of State had to publicly voice these messages as long as our strategic allies and the US warns the Georgian government that the Anaklia port is strategically important for the country and here the interests of the West are confronted by interests of Russia and China. As for the elections, I think the message was very clear. If Georgia wants to continue its strategic relations with the US, the elections should be held in our country in compliance with democratic rules and not as the last few elections. Georgia"s current government is determined to bring a democratic process in the deadlock, in fact creating an obstacle to a strategic relationship with the United States, "said Salome Samadashvili, a member of the National Movement.
The opponents of the authorities also say that since Pompeo"s statement touched upon the port of Anaklia, it means that the Georgian side has been constantly told about the issue at the closed meetings of the Georgian government and it is now necessary to disclose the public message.
"In Pompeo"s statement two blocks are visible, the first is the unconditional support of Georgia, our security, our NATO membership, and integrity, the other - publicly, openly expressed concern about the problematic issues of the government, the court, the parliament"s role, the port of Anaklia. If the authorities did not have the basic common sense and do not share those messages that were publicly voiced by the US Secretary of State, the worst for this government, "said David Bakradze, leader of the" European Georgia ".
