Uprising to overthrow the government and seize state power - Prosecutor"s Office qualifies developments of June 20

 

Special briefing in the Prosecutor"s Office - Koka Katsitadze states that the Prosecutor"s Office has established in the frameworks of investigation of developments, which took place on June 20-21 and on the basis of evidence and testimony that it was planned to overthrow the government and seize the state power.

Besids Katsitadze notes that certain forces had planned to cause disorder in the country.
According to Katsitadze, the investigation is ongoing under the article 225 and 315 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies an uprising in order to overthrow the government and seize the state power.

 

"An investigation is underway on the fact of gang violence and participation in the rally held on 20-21 June in front of the Parliament. On the basis of the evidence obtained by the testimony of dozens of witnesses at this stage, the investigative agency came to the conclusion that on the night of 20-21 of 2019 some individuals were planning to overthrow the government and seize the state power,"- said Koka Katsitadze .

The Prosecutor"s office underlines that they managed to neutralize the attempt and study of the relevant materials is underway.
