The United States Senate supported the imposition of sanctions on North Stream-2. Most of the members of the Foreign Relations Committee favour the document that would impose restrictions on companies and individuals involved in the construction of the Russian gas pipeline.
The document, in which US lawmakers are concerned about Russia"s growing influence in Europe, has to be approved by the majority of Senate and House of Representatives. The approved document will eventually be sent to Donald Trump for the countersign.
