Kyrgyzstan"s former president surrenders to law enforcement. Almazbek Atambayev made the decision after several hours of talks with law enforcement. Reportedly, he was taken to Mishkek.

Atambayev"s detention was preceded by a third storm attempt at his residence. A special operation to detain the former president began in Kyrgyzstan last night. One riot police killed and more than 50 were injured.

Following the unrest, the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry has launched a criminal case under Article 6. Atambayev is accused of links to criminal gangs, as well as of concealing money and corruption.
