Georgian and Russian Foreign Ministries respond to the Geneva International Discussions 49th round results.
According to the Foreign Ministry of Georgia, special emphasis was placed on the destructive and provocative actions of the occupation forces in the vicinity of the village Chorchana, as well as grave humanitarian consequences of closure of the so-called checkpoint in the so-called Tskhinvali region.
Georgian officials, in light of the escalating situation, stressed the importance of de-escalation of the situation on the ground and the need for Russia to unconditionally end destructive actions and continue dialogue in the existing formats of negotiations.
As Foreign Ministry of Russia says, the tension near the village of Tsneli was provoked by Tbilisi"s decision to relocate the police post directly along the village. They said that this fact prompted Tskhinvali to take retaliatory measures, including temporarily blocking of the so-called crossing points.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the parties agreed that the next round of Geneva talks will be held in December.
