Prosecutor’s Office releases statement on the origin of the "threatening letter"

The Prosecutor General"s Office of Georgia released a statement regarding the origin of the "threatening letter" submitted by the founder of TBC Bank Mamuka Khazaradze yesterday, October, 21.

According to the Prosecutor"s Office, "the letter had been physically accessible to an indefinite number of individuals in various countries for months, making it difficult to conduct effective dactyloscopic or other examinations."

“Given the great public interest, we would like to inform the public about the materials submitted by M. Khazaradze and B. Japaridze. On October 21, 2019, they submitted to the General Prosecutor"s Office of Georgia a report of the dactyloscopic examination conducted by a British private company, a compact disc, as well as the alleged origin of the ‘threatening letter” placed in an unsealed, open envelope, and their request for response.

It should be noted that the letter had been physically accessible to an indefinite number of individuals in various countries for months, making it difficult to conduct effective dactyloscopic or other examinations.

Despite this, according to the requirements of the law, the Prosecutor"s Office has already secured and sealed the materials in a procedural manner.

Within the framework of the ongoing investigation, the Prosecutor"s Office will thoroughly study the materials submitted by the applicants and will provide further information to the public on the results of the investigation,” reads the statement.
