US Responds to Parliament resolution on Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria list by this act - Vladimer Constantinidi

The US House of Representatives is considering a bipartisan act in support of Georgia, said the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. According to Vladimer Constantinidi, the bill envisages sanctions against human rights abusers in the occupied territories.

"It is important that the bipartisan bill provides for sanctions against human rights abusers in the occupied territories. In this way they respond to the resolution of the Parliament of Georgia on the list of Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria. In addition to security issues, the document contains key messages to boost trade and economic cooperation between the US and Georgia", - told Constantinidi to Kurieri.

Today, the US House of Representatives will discuss the Georgia Support Act, submitted by the co-chairs of the House Georgia Caucus, Congressmen Adam Kinzinger and Gerry Connolly, which has about 30 co-sponsors both from democratic ad republican parties. Prior to the consideration of the Act by the House of Representatives, the draft document was unanimously adopted by several committees, including the Foreign Relations, Legal Affairs and Revenue Committees.

The document asserts the United States of America’s continued support for the independence and sovereignty of Georgia, recognizes Georgia’s commitment to democratic values including free and fair elections, and affirms U.S. opposition to Russian aggression in the region.
