French national navy warship enters Batumi port

French National Navy warship Commandant Birot has entered the port in Georgia’s western coastal city of Batumi earlier today.

The vessel entered the city port per a bilateral cooperation agreement in the naval field between Georgia and France and it will participate in a naval drill with Georgian border police personnel and special operative forces.

On Monday, November 25, French sailors, representatives of Georgian Interior Ministry coast guards and Defense Ministry’s special operation forces will hold joint marine training.

Tornike Rizhvadze, the Head of Regional Government of Adjara, said such visits are of great importance for Georgia on its path to Euro-Atlantic integration.

“Frequent port calls of the partner countries, indicate their interest and support to overall reforms in the country, as well as the Black Sea security as a whole”, - added Rizhvadze.
