Giorgi Rurua remains in custody

The Tbilisi City Court has refused to release Giorgi Rurua from custody. According to judge, the risks of obstructing the investigation still exist.

Giorgi Rurua was apprehended on November, 18, over illegally purchasing, storing, and carrying firearms.

He was sentenced to imprisonment. Later his charges were stiffened, with the charges of refusal to adhere to the court"s ruling and obstructing adherence to it being added.

Rurua does not plead guilty. Opposition claims that he is detained for political reasons.
