I want to call on the ruling party and the opposition to meet and speak with each other, this is not about your parties, but about the future of your people. Such a statement made Marina Kaljurand, a member of the European Parliament.
“I am closely following the development of Georgia, European integration. Therefore, I think that I better understand the positive aspects and the challenges, because before joining the EU, my country – Estonia - followed the same path. Today, my country is lucky that it can take full advantage of EU membership.
Looking at the latest events, of course, there is a certain disappointment. I made a statement after Georgia failed to adopt the electoral amendments. It was not a disappointment of the European Parliament, it was a disappointment because of your people. At the moment, we are still supportive and urge the ruling party and the opposition to find a solution acceptable to both sides since the Georgian people deserve fair elections.
The 2020 elections will be crucial for the Georgian people, they will determine your future, your reforms, integration. That is why my message to both the ruling party and the opposition is – I want to call on to meet and talk to each other, it is not about your parties, and about the future of your people”, - concluded Marina Kaljurand.
