Today is the day of Soviet occupation. Three years after the National Council of Georgia declared independence in 1921, the Soviet leadership decided to invade Georgia by force. The Russian Red Army invaded the country on February 12.

Georgian Army, the People’s Guard and volunteers stood by the outskirts of Tbilisi.

The main battles took place in the vicinity of Kojori and Tabakhmela.
