Georgian platoon leaves for EU’s Central African Republic mission

The Georgian National Guard’s platoon will make the fifth rotation in the military training mission in Central Africa.

Irakli Gharibashvili, the Minister of Defense and French Ambassador to Georgia Diego Colas, escorted the servicemen out of Alekseyevka Military Airport.

Gharibashvili talked about the importance of peacekeeping missions.

The Georgian soldiers will be stationed in the capital Bangui in the Ukatex military base, and will be tasked with ensuring security of the area and carrying out patrol and convoy missions.

Operating in Bangui, the capital of the republic, the training mission has seen successful service from Georgian troops over recent deployments.
