Coronavirus - more than 1 200 000 infected and up to 70 000 dead worldwide

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to grow and evolve - the US has the world’s largest outbreak, with more than 337 000 people infected, while Italy has recorded more deaths than any other country - researchers are scrambling to learn about the virus and recommend effective responses.


260 484 people recovered from COVID-19 globally, according to Johns Hopkins University.


A worldwide number of people diagnosed with the virus reached 1 274 000. Among the virus-hit countries, the US is in the first place (337 620 cases), followed by Spain (131 646 cases) and Italy (128 948 cases).


Death toll in Italy has reached 15 887, in Spain - 12 641 and in the US - 9 132.


A total of 69 479 people died from the virus globally.
