Shida Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti District Prosecutor"s Office has filed charges against I.K. for intentional murder of his wife.

An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that On July 6, 2020, in Surami, Khashuri Municipality, I.K., on the grounds of jealousy, with the motive of revenge, in order to kill her intentionally, inflicted multiple wounds on his wife - T.R. with a firearm. As a result of the received injury, T.R. died on the spot.

The Law Enforcement Bodies detained I.K. on the same day. The Prosecutor’s Office charged him under Article 111,109 §2 subparagraph “f” (intentional murder, committed against a family member) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

The prosecution has already appealed to the Gori City Court to use detention as a measure of restraint for I.K.

The investigation into the criminal case is ongoing. The charges against I.K. are punishable by 13 to 17 years in prison.
