A day before the voting for constitutional amendments, the issue of holding a plebiscite was raised. European Georgia offers political forces to hold a plebiscite on the rule of electing of the president and electoral system.

The main addressee is the Prime Minister who has the power to make such decisions. In case of refusal the parliamentary minority will start collecting signatures.

European Georgia has received a response from the majority soon. The ruling team is against the plebiscite. The idea of plebiscite was found to be interesting for the president`s team.

Considering the opinion of the people regarding the presidential election and the electoral system is important for other opposition parties. Part of the opposition calls the idea of the plebiscite to be unprespective and names several reasons.

The authors of the offer exclude holding a referendum and explain that a plebiscite is better. They explain that the referendum should be held across the whole territory of Georgia and it will not be possible in the occupation conditions.
