Georgian delegation did not support resumption of monitoring of democratic processes in Turkey

At the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, MPs adopted a draft resolution on Turkey. The document states that Turkey should return from post-monitored phase to the monitoring phase.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has already responded to this decision and noted that the country will have to revise relations with the Council of Europe.

"I am an opposition MP and I have voted against this resolution together with my Georgian counterparts, for which I want to thank them for their support. We always felt that Georgians are true friends of Turkey and we are your true friends, "said the Turkish parliamentarian.

Nino Goguadze, a member of the Georgian parliamentary delegation, states that Georgia`s position is to be in close contact with all partner countries.

A member of the parliamentary delegation of Georgia, David Bakradze, noted that for Georgia Turkey`s European future is of great importance for, and therefore the delegation voted against the return of Turkey to the monitoring phase .
