NGOs protest against appointment for another term of Deputy Chairman of Supreme Court

NGO sector is protesting against appointment of Mikheil Chinchaladze, deputy chairman of the Supreme Court for a new term. As the argument they bring the statistics published by the Supreme Court, according to which the chairperson of the administartive chamber has considered only 250 cases in 10 years. This is a relatively low figure compared to other judges.

Mikheil Chinchaladze has already appealed to the Council of Justice and his candidacy will be voted for in a few weeks. In Chinchaladze"s business biography, besides the scarce number of cases, there are also scandalous cases, including the case of Rustavi 2 where his surname is linked to the pressure on judges.

Today, his friend, the secretary of the Supreme Council of Justice Levan Murusidze and other non-judge members tried to protect Chinchaladze from criticism of the third sector. They explain the lack of affairs by international practice, but their arguments are unacceptable for the NGOs .
