The Public Defender has made remarks regarding the draft constitution developed by the parliamentary majority. Ucha Nanuashvili says that a number of issues connected with protection of human rights were not taken into account in the development of constitutional amendments .

According to the Ombudsman, the Office of Public Defender continues to work on the fundamental principles of human rights in the final version of the Constitution.

The Ombudsman responded to the opposition`s criticism of the draft constitution and the initiative of holding a plebiscite on the presidential election.

"It is important to involve as many people as possible in this issue. Consequently, all the form can be used which can be considered as a step towards understanding the opinion of the broad layers of the population and the plebiscite is one of them, " - said Ucha Nanuashvili.
