So called pre-trial session on the Cyanide Case at the Tbilisi City Court is completely closed. Judge Badri Shonia took into consideration the demand of the prosecution and announced closure of the session.

One of the arguments for the closure of the meeting was the video and audio evidence in the case in which the famous faces of the public are mentioned.

According to the judge, in case of openness of the session, their identity will be disclosed, which he said violation their freedom.

Another argument concerns religious beliefs of the participants . The judge explained that the openness of the court may create an incorrect representation of the clergy in society.
The Patriarchate’s Lawyer did not agree with the argument. . According to Edisher Karchava, the publicity of the session does not threat the image of the Patriarchate.
