"This is an independent branch of the government" - Kobakhidze on appointing judges

"This is an independent branch of the government and they have to make decisions about judges," - said Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia on decisions of the High Council of Justice regarding lifelong appointment of judges involved in the jtrials of scandalous cases.

Irakli Kobakhidze believes that the judiciary system is better now.

"In general, regarding the situation in the court, there are too many old judges. There are two alternative ways, one way is to make total cleaning, which we remember very badly since 2004, the second option is to make the system healthier. We think that no matter who the personnel are, the system is well-balanced now, "- said Irakli Kobakhidze.

Mikheil Chinchaladze, Otar Sichinava and Shorena Kavelashvili who are associated with scandalous cases have been appointed lifelong by the High Council of Justice.
