Abolition of Governor`s Position - Opposition speaks about problems in self-governance

The decision to abolish the position of the Governor was followed by assessments in the opposition spectrum which states that the renaming of the position is not a significant reform.

Member of Movement for Freedom -European Georgia Faction, Irakli Abesadze draws attention to the problems in self-governance.

"Today`s self-governance in Georgia which is mostlu dependant on the central government, is a very weak, corrupt and unskilled structure with unskilled employees, which can not guarantee dealing with people`s daily problems," -said Irakli Abesadze.

Giorgi Botkoveli, a member of the political council of the United National Movement has evaluated the changes as well.

"The seven self-governing cities are being annulled and now they tell us that they will not be abolished and thus they will deceive and mislead the population that it will be just a change of name and the Governor will be called a Mayor . 7 self-governing cities remain without the status of self-governing and they are trying to overshadow all of this" - said Botkoveli.

We remind you that after a new reform all new municipalities will have only the mayor.
