Third sector calls on society to actively engage in discussions on constitutional amendments

Third sector representatives urge the public to actively engage in discussing constitutional amendments. Executive Director of the NGO Transparency International Georgia, Eka Gigauri hopes that after the citizens` activity and the Venice Commission conclusion, the ruling team will change the amendments to the constitution.

"I think there are chances that under the pressure from citizens and after effective communication with the Venice Commission certain changes will be made to the electoral system," - Eka Gigauri said.

Ana Natsvlishvili, a chairwoman of the Georgian Young Lawyers" Association (GYLA) criticized yesterday`s statement of the chairman of the parliament when he referred to activists as "Communists" due to their different opinion .

After the general discussions in regions and in Tbilisi, meetings will be held with thematic groups. It is also planned to review the constitutional amendments with Venice Commission members.
