Ruling team may fail to get necessary votes for adoption of constitutional amendments in Parliament

There are different opinions on the legislative amendments in the ruling team. Speaking of the different positions in the ruling team, the MPs also mention constitutional amendments.

The abolition of the majoritarian system, the restriction of the land alienation and the rule of distribution of the mandates are the issues on which the majority can not collect the votes required for constitutional amendments.

Majoritarian MPs are openly opposed to transition to proportional system. Despite the difference of opinions, the majority say that the team`s overall position is reflected in the final document of the commission.

Another issue that has not been agreed with in the ruling party is about the mayoral candidate for the capital. Reportedly, if Kakhi Kaladze is not nominated as mayoral candidate, some part of the majority might leave the faction. Deputies themselves say this information is spread deliberatly .

The ruling party is going to nominate a mayoral candidate in a few days.
