Heinrich Mortensen, one of the leaders of Europe`s most influential European parties, arrived in Tbilisi today to find out details of kidnapping of Azerbaijani journalist Afgan Mukhtarli.
Vice President of "ALDE" has already met with "Republicans" and "Free Democrats".
Apart from the Mukhtarli`s case, the topics of conversation with political parties were the constitutional reform and upcoming elections of self-government.
Henrik Mortensen will hold a summarizing briefing today.
"Every country has its own vision of how to develop democracy. There is no uniform system that will fit all countries equally. But as "liberals" and "democrats", we must agree that any system should respect the fundamental freedoms of human rights. Georgia has shown an example of how to develop a country in the direction of democracy. However, the case of Afgan Mukhtarli will divert the attention from the ongoing positive processes in Georgia. I hope this will be a case that the Georgian government will be able to solve and return to the path leading to democracy, "-
Henrik Mortenstein said.
