Ministers of EU member states condemn occupation by Russia and call on Georgian government to take reasonable steps

Meeting of the Council of Ministers of EU member states is underway in Brussels. The main topics are Syria and North Korea crisis. Despite the fact that Georgia is not in the agenda of the meeting, the Ministers noted in comments that the EU supports Georgia`s territorial integrity.

They say Russia is interested whether the EU will react to its actions. According to the ministers, the EU should continue its foreign policy.

"We condemn any form of violation of territorial integrity of Georgia. This is what has not changed and will never change, "said the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy, Johannes Han.

Lithuania`s Foreign Minister, Linas Linkevich, calls on the Georgian authorities to take reasonable steps.

" Escalation of tensions would not be the right step from Georgia. Your country must continue to act responsibly and wisely. Consult with international partners. We should ensure that the situation gets better. Russia, as a rule, is testing how vigilant we are. How far they can go, "- says Linas Linkevich.
