President vetoes the code of self-governance. Giorgi Margvelashvili made a statement at a special briefing several minutes ago.

The veto was preceded by the meeting of the president and the non-governmental sector , where the civil sector representatives had called on President Margvelashvili to veto the code.

The NGOs had stated that amendments, which envisage reduction of number of self-governing cities from twe12 to five , is unacceptable and will reduce the involvement of the local government in solving specific issues.

Opposition was demanded use of veto from Giorgi Margvelashvili as well.
