Parliamentary Majority intends to overcome presidential veto , opposition criticizes ruling team

The parliamentary majority intends to overcome all three vetoes of the president, caused by amendments to the election and self-governance code.

"Probably, we will overcome veto and and continue dialogue with the President"s institution,"- said Archil Talakvadze, the leader of the parliamentary majority.

The opposition says that if they overcome the President"s veto , it will hinder the democratic process.

"Of course, they will overcome veto, but it will cost dearly, because people see that they are going to protect their seats defending the new legislation against the voters’ will, " said Roman Gotsiridze, a member of United National Movement.

"European Georgia" says that the abolition of the status of the self-governing city damages the country"s development.

Giorgi Margvelashvili"s parliamentary secretary Ana Dolidze once again made explanations about the President"s veto.

"The aim of the motivated remarks is that the Georgian Parliament and the population should be aware of the negative consequences that will bring self-governance or electoral changes," said Ana Dolidze.
