Free Democrats backed Aleko Elisashvili, independent candidate for  Tbilisi Mayor`s position, but today the party has released a special statemen saying that they s do not take part in the self-government elections in 2017.

Lasha Meskhi, Head of Public Relations Department of Independent Candidate states that Aleko Elisashvili is an independent candidate and he is accountable only to the society.

"Aleko Elisashvili took into consideration the people`s order, the people`s position. He is and will be pursuing public interest, and in fact people will depend on his victory and not on any political party or business elite.

"We are conducting an election campaign as an independent subject and this is so because it is therequest of the public and Aleko Elisashvili will be accountable only to the public," Lasha Meskhi said.
