The goal of the occupant regime was to silence free speech - Sophio Kiladze speaks about Tamar Mearkishvili`s detention

The parliamentary majority responds to the detention of journalist and civil activist Tamar Mearkishvili by the occupation regime. According to Sopho Kiladze, Chairwoman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, detention of Tamar Mearkishvili is a proof that the occupational regime is trying to hide the situation and to suppress free speech.

"It was, of course, one of the main objectives in my opinion that by this detention the occupant regime wanted to put an end to free speech and not to provide objective information to the rest of the world. Of course, we are doing everything to stop such facts with the help of our partners, we have certainly achieved the fact that the woman is released from imprisonment , " - Sophio Kiladze said.

The civil activist and the journalist of "Netgazeti", was arrested by the Prosecutor`s Office of the occupational regime yesterday. At the time of his detention, she managed to give a telephone interview to the media, saying that the occupation regime has detained her without any explanation and warrant.

The journalist is at home at this stage.
