Representatives of parliamentary opposition not going to give up on principle issues with ruling team

The dialogue between the opposition parties and the majority on constitutional amendments is under way. Representatives of the parliamentary opposition party say that the principle issues, such as changes in the parliamentary system and the rule of election of president, will not be compromised with the ruling team.

Before the commencement of the meeting, opposition representatives had consultations and once again agreed on the issues that will be presented to the parliamentary majority.

Nika Rurua, a member of the political council of the United National Movement, states that the plebiscite on transition to the proportional system in 2020 will not be compromised.
Levan Tarkhnishvili, member of the Political Council for Freedom of Movement of Europe, notes that their main demand is transition to proportional system and distribution of mandates. It also points out that there will be some compromise with the ruling team.
The deputy chairperson of the parliament of Georgia, member of the Georgian Patriots Irma Inashvili offers the ruling team to conduct editorial changes during the third hearing on the electoral system.

"We must move to proportional electoral system not from 2024, but immediately," - said Irma Inashvili.
