Giorgi Kvirikashvili took over chairmanship of Open Government Partnership from Emmanuel Macron

Prime Minister of Georgia has taken over from the French president the chairmanship of "Open Government Partnership".

The organization`s activities, which now unites 75 countries, aim to increase transparency of public institutions and accountability of government officials.

"Our goal is to create more transparency, since this is the way to form open relationship with the society and the equality between all citizens.
We also talked about accountability, as using new technologies one could get a report on a politician`s activity. Everything will be recorded on digital devices and this information will be open to the public. Probably all agreed, that in this case digital technologies create a new way to strengthen democracy, "-Emmanuel Macron said.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted that the OGP chairmanship and contributing to the global movement of strong democracy is a great honor for the Government of Georgia. The ceremony was held in the framework of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

"I would like to express my support towards the Mexican nation that has to deal with the results of a new earthquake.
It is a great honor and a privilege for me to be among the hosts of this important event and we appeal to you as a newly elected chairman of the global movement for transparency and democracy. I hope we will be able to continue the activities that the French government has initiated. Our goal is to dedicate our chairmanship to strengthening the foundations of open governance, to give people the opportunity to influence the decisions of the government, which are related to their everyday life, "Giorgi Kvirikashvili said.
