New Constitution - Parliament will discuss motivated remarks of President today

The Parliament will discuss the motivated remarks of the President of Georgia regarding the new draft constitution, at the plenary session today. 10 minutes earlier MPs will gather at the Bureau session and the last stage of the constitutional reform will start at 11:00.

The parliamentary majority does not plan to share Giorgi Margvelashvili`s position and is preparing to overcome veto, for which 113 votes will be mobilized.

The president`s motivated remarks were also handed over to the Committee on Legal Issues. Nevertheless, the opposition calls on the Georgian Dream for the last chance of consensus.

"They are going to overcome the veto, and they have the physical possibilities to do it based on the number of votes, but if they are interested in the future of our country, they should not do so, they should not create possibility for Bidzina Ivanishvili to retain power forever, but should use this last chance for a consensual based constitution, "-says The "National Movement" Secretary Bokuchava.

Opposition parties say that sharing of presidential veto is the only way to conduct fair elections in 2020. In the case of adoption of the Constitution, politicians say that the country will have a one-party main law.
