Ownership dispute over Rustavi 2 raised concerns about ongoing government interference with media- HRW

The international organization HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH Georgian representation reports. The letter addresses the issue of freedom of media, where the events surrounding the broadcasting company Rustavi 2 are presented.

The report noted that the dispute over Rustavi 2"s ownership issue, which has been in place for the third year already, continued in 2017 and raised concerns about the interference of the government in media.

The report also refers to the abolition of several political talk-show by the new Georgian Public Broadcaster, where the organization said the technical equipment and programming plans for the broadcaster were named as the reason.
